Each of the 50 states has their own rules regarding how EVV is managed. For that reason, it's important to have EVV Software that understands and complies with the rules and best practices from your state. Here is what to look for:
- EVV Aggregators: Make sure that your software integrates with your aggregator (such as Sandata, HHAX, Therap, Tellus/Netsmart, and Authenticare)?
- MCOs: Has your state outsourced EVV management to Managed Care Organizations (like Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross and others) and does it support the clearing houses required by your MCOs?
- Rounding Rules: Make sure that your software matches how your state requires rounding and splitting visits at midnight?
- Special Rules: If you perform multiple services in a single visit, make sure that your software only requires a single clock-in and clock-out.
- Partnership: Is your software vendor available to work with you when your state changes the rules?
