Ankota COO, Sara Moore, has created a few initiatives to spark conversations about community in the home care industry. Among other efforts, she created AHomeCareCommunity.com to provide a place online for folks in home care to share ideas, offer Best Practices and resources, and to promote events.
She has also started "Monday Moore Mantras." She sends them via email on Mondays, so despite the fact that this blog is being posted on a Thursday, here is this week's Monday More Mantra:
On Saturday, I burned my kids' favorite breakfast... cinnamon rolls. They eagerly waited for a cinnamon roll treat on Saturday morning, and while lost in a deep conversation with my husband, I completely forgot about the mental timer I set for the rolls.
As the smell of cinnamon wafted through the house, I ran to the oven to find 2 of my children, sitting by the oven, delighted to smell their favorite breakfast.
"I burned the rolls! I'm so so sorry!" I shouted while running into the kitchen. My children gently arose from their kneeling positions and patiently, without an ounce of disappointment, replied, "its really ok, mom."
Just like that, without any strings attached, they forgave me and gladly ate their burnt breakfast. How easily it was for them to forgive me and not mention the mistake.
This gentle reminder was exactly what I needed for a fresh eye opener on how forgiveness can be such a simple act.
This event also inspired this week's Monday Moore Mantra:
Forgive Easily
My Monday Moore Mantra today is to "forgive easily". A quote that fit this message nicely comes from David Small.
“To Understand somebody else as a human being, I think, is about as close to real forgiveness as one can get.” - David Small
Sometimes it's hard to remember that we, ourselves, are only human. Having that understanding by others and the forgiveness we humans need, is a great gift.
